A cherished memory of Terry Blunsum

Belatedly, I’m very sorry to hear about Terry. One of my earliest Reuters memories was Terry’s burly presence dominating the taster’s position, composed and in control even at the busiest moments. The early 1980s World Desk was a dazzling cast of characters to my newcomer’s eyes, and Terry was among the most likeable of an engaging lot. Unflappable, unpretentious, and as Ann says, in the quiet moments affable and a very funny story teller. Like some of the other senior deskers, he took time to sit with beginners and give feedback about our wretched efforts. Mostly we were treated with fairness and a good deal of patience, probably more than we deserved. That remains a cherished memory. ■
