A mark of pitiable corporate culture

Of course, the Reuters veteran who is still on the payroll and so requests anonymity [Déjà vu all over again] is right. Let's not forget that it was under editor-in-chief Stephen Adler who now preaches that “the reader is almost always better served when we're succinct,” that those interminable multi-thousand-word non-insightful insights, non-analytical analyses and exclusives that belittle the epithet gained such prominence. I once counted one that was almost 4,000 words long.

It is also a mark of a pitiable corporate culture that a veteran of a company whose very raison d'être is the free flow of expression has to seek shelter from probable retribution in anonymity. ■
