Big Bang

That article on the “big bang” in the future of Thomson Reuters’ news operations [The ‘Big Bang’ in Thomson Reuters’ future] is eye-opening, to say the least. It portrays a news service that, in trying to prepare for the future, has lost its bearings as it races to remove all traces of its past, its strengths and its skills. To me it indicates a management that - apart from entertaining a strong desire to cut staff, but not managerial, costs - remains utterly clueless as to what it wants and how to achieve it. ■
