Bob Taylor: Conscientiousness and energy

I was much entertained by the company of Bob Taylor in Brussels in 1970. I found the most impressive things about him, however, even exceeding his knowledge and his humour, were his conscientiousness and his sheer energy. When his first wife fell ill with (I think) an incurable brain tumour, Bob regularly got into his car in Brussels, drove to Aberdeen to see her in hospital, drove back again immediately, and was on top of the job again in Brussels. ■
