David Betts: his banter, sense of fun, love of life, and intellect

It was my good fortune to meet David in about 1970 when my wife, Stella, and Patricia (Trixie) met at the school gates in Bickley, Kent. They became firm friends and soon afterwards so did David and I.

I was a police officer in London and David's profession and mine just “dovetailed” beautifully. I came to relish not only his banter and sense of fun and love of life but also to respect his intellect. Stella and I count ourselves very fortunate to have known David and we are so pleased we took a trip to Dornoch in September to visit them in their new home. RIP David. ■
