Paul Ingrassia moves to Reuters 'geographic centre'

Paul Ingrassia, hired by Reuters two years ago as deputy editor-in-chief, is moving to London from New York to oversee the agency's global editorial management.

Ingrassia, pictured, recently named managing editor, will be based in Canary Wharf.

“Moving to London literally puts me at the geographic centre of the Reuters news operation. We face many exciting challenges in 2013 and I am committed to ensuring that Reuters continues to produce groundbreaking and award winning journalism,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Prior to joining Reuters in April 2011 Ingrassia worked for The Wall Street Journal and its parent company, Dow Jones, for 31 years. He served as president of Dow Jones Newswires from 1998 to 2006 and then was the company’s vice president for news strategy. He also held positions as reporter, editor and executive. As the Journal’s Detroit bureau chief, Ingrassia won a Pulitzer Prize in 1993 with his deputy, Joseph B. White, for coverage of the previous year’s crisis at General Motors.

Ingrassia has published two books recently: Crash Course: The American Automobile Industry’s Road from Glory to Disaster (2010, Random House) and Engines of Change: A History of the American Dream in Fifteen Cars (2012, Simon & Schuster). ■
