Three new directors elected to Thomson Reuters board

Shareholders elected three new directors to the board of Thomson Reuters in a ballot at the company's annual meeting in Toronto.

They are

  • Sheila Bair, 60, a senior advisor to the Pew Charitable Trusts and former chair of the US Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. She has also held senior positions at the New York Stock Exchange, Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the US Department of the Treasury.
  • Michael Daniels, 59, a board member of SS&C Technologies Holdings and Tyco International. He previously spent 36 years with IBM where he held senior roles in sales and technology.
  • P. Thomas Jenkins, 54, chairman of OpenText Corporation, where he was formerly president and CEO.

"We are fortunate to welcome three exceptional new directors," David Thomson, chairman of Thomson Reuters, said after Thursday's annual meeting. "We are honored to draw upon their deep experience, expertise and perspective as we continue to grow our global business."

The company also announced that David Binet (photo), president and chief executive of the Thomson family’s investment vehicle Woodbridge, has been appointed deputy chairman of the Thomson Reuters board of directors. ■
