Turkish strike threat averted

The threat of a strike has been averted in Reuters Turkey bureaux following an agreement between the Journalists' Union of Turkey (TGS) and the company.

The union signed a one-year collective bargaining agreement with Reuters on Saturday (photo). The deal includes gradual Turkish lira wage raises of 100% for those earning the lowest and 30% for those earning the highest and two bonuses a year.

Reuters colleagues in Istanbul and Ankara received their demands on wages and rights thanks to their determination and collective action, a staff member told The Baron. ■
