Jim Loney, a senior editor in Washington, joins exodus

Jim Loney, editor in charge of the breaking news team in Washington for the past six months, joined the exodus from Reuters.

Saying “thank you to the reporters, editors and managers whose kindness, patience and wisdom have made Reuters just the finest place to work”, Loney said he took two decades of rich memories - of great stories, big adventures and wonderful workmates who provided inspiration every day with their passion, dedication, courage and friendship. “What more could anyone ask?”

Loney was appointed to the post in June in place of David Storey who moved to a job overseeing the Washington bureau’s foreign policy team. He had come from Baghdad where he was deputy bureau chief.

Loney joined Reuters as a reporter in Miami in 1995 and reported from Los Angeles before becoming an editor on the World Desk in Washington. ■
