Aachen and Reuters

Recalling the considerable internal publicity given to the installation of a plaque to the founder in Aachen in 1962, around the time I joined, like Brian Mooney I was also surprised to find almost no reference to the family news agency in the city's Multimedia Newspaper Museum on a visit there a couple of years back. I had always assumed that it was the future Baron and his pigeons that put the town on the world media map. But what may be (I failed my mentor Sidney Weiland in not checking) the original of the familiar Rudolf Lehmann portrait of Baron Julius hangs in the entrance gallery. I couldn't resist posing with him. ■
