Baron's Bash due for revival on 21 March

The Baron’s Bash, an informal gathering of largely editorial Reuter staffers from the halcyon days of the family news agency, is due to return from its Covid-enforced break on 21 March.

The annual lunchtime gathering in the leafy setting of Dulwich & Sydenham Hill Golf Club in London was last held in 2019 after a run of over 10 years. Mary Norsworthy, who died in 2020 after a lengthy illness, launched the event with a format which has not changed one jot since its first outing.

Conversation, with a hefty dollop of nostalgic reminiscing, is the main item on the menu, alongside a bar, buffet lunch and cake. Bash stalwarts abound, but new guests are made very welcome.

The room is airy with large doors opening on to a balcony with an outstanding view of the City, and organisers Lesley Saltmarsh and Jeremy Toye will be keeping a watchful eye on Covid to keep everyone as safe as possible.

If you would like to join the gathering at a cost of £32 per head, or know of someone who would welcome an invite, please contact me on jemtoye@gmail.com. ■
