Cultural divide

The signing of the Armed Forces Covenant illustrates with startling clarity the cultural divide between Thomson and Reuters. One wonders how Reuter journalists reporting from the island of Ireland and on the British Army Training Unit in Kenya feel about their now exposed positions. The action of signing the Covenant is one that challenges the raison d’être of a news organisation which survived because of its impartiality often challenged but never diminished. ■
