Damage limitation

Now that the damage has been done perhaps Reuters can mitigate it by signing a covenant with the armed forces of the US, Russia, China, North Korea, Israel, Iran and any other country that offers it. That may restore Reuters’ halo of impartiality. This problem would never have happened in the family news agency that Reuters once was. But in a megalithic organisation with so many disparate departments scattered around the globe the right hand may not always know what the left hand is doing. Perhaps it’s time to borrow the communist concept of mass re-education without going to the extreme of Chairman Mao’s cultural revolution. ■
