George's red car

Adam Norsworthy's reminiscences about his father's stammer reminded me of the time when Rick gave the eulogy at a memorial service for George Short. As he walked up to the podium to speak a palpable feeling of apprehension spread among the assembly. But Rick came good. There was no stutter, no hesitation as he delivered his speech, alive with anecdotes.

As I recall, he finished off with a story about the time George told him he had just bought a car. George was no petrolhead and Rick was a bit taken aback at this.

"What type of car?" Rick asked.

"A red one," came the reply. ■
