Jeremy Smith - iconic symbol of Reuters TV quality and reliability

Jeremy was a superb TV editor - supremely good at the impossibly difficult job of agency television news coverage, and a great team leader too. He was admired, respected and loved by all who worked with him. He was supportive to everyone on the desk and in the field and mentored new staff with care, kindness and firm friendship. He was the iconic symbol of Reuters TV quality and reliability in newsrooms and bureaux around the world, especially in tough and challenging times, responsible for many its greatest successes. But above all Jeremy was a really great guy, sadly epitomising the old saying that only the good die young. RIP Jeremy - look forward to seeing you again manning the great Intake Desk in the sky. ■
