Jim Saft: Good humour and patience

Jim Saft came to Reuters with Loan Pricing Corporation with deep expertise, fabulous contacts but an open mind and eagerness to make the acquisition work. It wasn't easy because we wanted to retain their subscription clients but enhance the main wire. From the start he was up for a challenge, eager to try new things and generous with time and support for colleagues. His good humour and patience helped him make the transition to the main service and a manager role smooth although he was never happier than when he was writing and finding a simple and engaging way to explore the most difficult or taxing debt issue. ■
