Lionel Walsh - Friend and colleague

Lionel was a fine journalist and a pillar of strength in the early years of the World Service in London as economics editor and then as chief correspondent in Paris. His judgment was extremely sound, his writing clear and fluent and his human qualities outstanding, especially in tough times as a friend as well as a colleague. ■
