Nestor the Chronicler

Barry May, who created The Baron and edited it for 15 years with flair and dedication, reminds me of Nestor the Chronicler. A 12th Century monk at a Kyiv monastery, he is considered the father of Russian history.

The Baron, advertising for a new editor, says the job can be rewarding.

Nestor was made a saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church. His fresco (photo attached) adorns St Vladimir Cathedral in Kyiv. Will it survive the Ukraine war? ■
