Out of purgatory but needing a shower

I am glad to hear Steve Hasker's tidings of great joy that Reuters has been spared the seven circles of hell and is out of purgatory.

But has it really been cleansed of misconceptions about its independence and impartiality which led to the signing of the UK Armed Forces Covenant?

The uproar over the Covenant has fortunately shown that vigilant present and past staff of the 170-year-old news agency will step in when the Trustees go on holiday. ■
