Prized book a casualty of pictures and marketing budget cuts

One sad casualty of the cuts to the Reuters photo service has been the big, glossy volume of the best news pictures that used to be published once a year. The last edition of Reuters - Our World Now (Volume 6) went on sale in May 2013. When I e-mailed the Reuters pictures department the other day, I was told the series had been dropped. “It’s a combination of many things really, including the editor of the books leaving Reuters and marketing budgets being cut. We all agree it is such a shame.” It seems not just a shame but barmy, since the books were surely excellent publicity for the company. ■
