Quickie briefings and mental health

It was interesting to read that Reuters correspondents in the old days were called upon to give quickie briefings to women journalists who were advised: "Always sleep with the Reuters man."

Today, with so many beautiful women journalists being sent to the world's trouble spots, it must be difficult for Reuters correspondents to concentrate on their job.

James Bond's dalliances must have been inspired by tales the author Ian Fleming heard from his Reuters colleagues.

Such extracurricular activity can be stressful and does not help a correspondent’s mental health. Thomson Reuters has announced that it is giving all staff a day off for mental health this month and every year thereafter. About time too. ■
