Reminds me of a day in 1985 when I was on temp assignment to the White House to cover President Reagan. The loudest press corps voice then was Sam Donaldson of ABC News.

Reagan appeared in the Rose Garden with visiting Belgian prime minister Wilfried Martens, a quiet, unassuming type, for a joint presser.

“Any more questions?” Reagan asked after being verbally bombarded as usual about some domestic furore.

“Yessir, Mr President,” bawled Donaldson. “Who’s that guy standing beside ya?” ■
