The madness of 85

So enjoying the reminiscences of the bizarre at 85 in the Good Old Years. I recall a furious executive descending on the World Desk to deliver a severe warning.

The vicar of St Bride’s had complained of “tea or bread” landing on his premises next door from a Reuters 4th floor window. This had to stop, the exec snapped (just before the “trolleee” trundled up, laden with tea AND bread pudding).

I sympathised with the vicar. That bread pudding could cause serious damage if falling from a height.

A few years before his death in 2016 Peter Mosley wrote about the “trolleee”, the “tea or bread” saga and much else at Reuters Head Office. His recollection is here: Lunch with The Baron at 85 Fleet Street - Ed. ■
