Uncharitable in the detail

Bob Evans raises an important issue which nevertheless may be a wee bit uncharitable in the detail. Regarding his penultimate para, Reuters has, to my direct knowledge, provided over the years substantial support for independent press freedom organisations, such as my old outfit, the International News Safety Institute (INSI), and, I believe, the CPJ.

Reuters certainly has been for many years a media industry leader on journalist safety, a key to press freedom around the world. (Which, I may add, made its brief dalliance with the British Army all the more baffling.) ■
