Wireroom memories of Sam Burgess

I read with interest the obituary for Sam Burgess. From leaving school until being called up for National Service I worked at Comtelburo so I got to know Sam. Post National Service I undertook a company-run course to qualify as a Telegraphist. After a spell on the Editorial's Africa Desk I transferred back to Comtel, joining the Wireroom team. It was a pleasure to work with him and the assistance he gave me to become more familiar with how the Wireroom operated. ■
