Obituary: Ranjit De Silva

Born in Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, De Silva worked for UPI in its Annapolis bureau before joining Reuters in the US capital.​

After Reuters he returned to UPI before joining the US government where he became director of public affairs of the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

Later in his career he returned to Sri Lanka and served as head of government public affairs. He left Colombo to return to the United States for a kidney transplant. ■
