After the London marathon, Scott Thornton trains for an encore

Scott Thornton is doing it again. The former Reuters correspondent and manager (photo), who ran his first marathon in London a year ago, is entered for this month’s Edinburgh marathon, this time to raise funds for Oxfam.

Thornton says the race on 26 May is his “toughest physical challenge - and at the age of 64! I only took up (semi) serious running three years ago”.

“My PR agency promotes hotels and restaurants throughout Scotland and northern England. That involves working with chefs serving great food yet having worked on five continents (four of them for Reuters) I’m well aware that millions of our fellow humans are starving. Hence Oxfam.”

Anyone who wants to help him raise funds for the charity can donate at www.justgiving.com/scottmarathon2. “Even a small donation can make a big difference to those who don’t have enough to eat.” ■
