Party animals at the museum

There was much lamenting by guests of CEO Tom Glocer at his UK summer party on that day’s news that Thomson Reuters was leaving the London Stock Exchange, the Financial Times reported.

It was notable that while co-deputy chairman Niall FitzGerald was there, his fellow co-deputy chair and president of the Thomson family investment arm, Geoff Beattie, stayed in New York, it said.

“Although the event had moved from the main hall of the British Museum to the Nereid Gallery, fellow Thomson Reuters director Ken Olisa teased Mr Glocer about his love of parties.”

Thomson Reuters deal banker Robin Budenburg of UBS appeared cheerful despite the dual listing being abandoned, the FT said. JPMorgan Cazenove’s Charlie Harman - also part of the banking team which advised Thomson Reuters on the “unification” - seemed relieved that the news had gone down fairly smoothly. ■
