A quip or quote

I was shocked and saddened to learn of Sumeet Desai’s untimely passing. Our paths crossed many times during the first decade of the 2000s when I was Washington economics correspondent and Sumeet and I met at innumerable G7 finance ministers’ meetings around the globe.

I’ll always remember him with a smile on his face, ready to pitch in with a quip or a necessary quote as the occasion demanded - and great fun afterward when the work was done. ■
