Chris Peterson: A valued colleague and a talented writer and manager

Trish and I were deeply saddened to hear of Chris Peterson's death.

He was a valued colleague for me in Hong Kong and a talented writer and manager as head of the bureau.

I had lunch with him regularly in London and for the last time only 10 weeks ago when he was in his characteristically ebullient form.

We shared tales of our post-Reuters careers in newspapers and he seemed to revel in his China Daily role.

A legacy of our chats is a China Daily popping through our letterbox every day from a free subscription he kindly arranged.

We especially fondly recall days at sea on our shared junk in Hong Kong with Chris, Mai and our families. ■
