George Soros

I interviewed George Soros a number of times but the most memorable was when I went to his beautiful house in Chelsea, London with a film crew. We did the interview but as we were chatting afterwards it was obvious that he was fascinated by the video camera. “How much does that cost?” he asked. Then, “Where can I buy 20 second-hand?” It turned out he want to re-equip a Hungarian television station. A true trader at heart. I always found him a gentleman. I don’t think he thought it was his problem if governments like the John Major administration in the UK pursued illogical policies that created opportunities for people like him. Glad he’s still with us! ■
