Gerry Ratzin

Gerry and I knew each other for nearly 40 years, from when he was editorial staff manager in London and I was in RES at HQ. I appreciated his down-to-earth, pragmatic approach and, as far as I can remember, I always took his well argued advice. His humorous one-liners were often appropriate. Some years later when Gerry was staff manager based in Paris he was most helpful in integrating a small number of staff members after Reuters’ takeover of I P Sharp. When I met Gerry at some function only a couple of months ago, he told me he was doing ok, and he seemed to look his usual self. ■
