Going round in circles

With editor-in-chief Stephen Adler’s latest ukase on Reuters “cake,” it’s difficult to know what’s going on with moving from three regional desks to one global desk while moving from three editorial regions to six. If anything it sounds just like the old regional system of decades ago, although then all the regional editors were assembled in London.

“Journeys such as this can be taxing, to be sure, but our destination is an exciting one,” says Adler. But it sounds more like being on the London Underground’s old never-ending Circle Line. ■
