Graham Crickett, one of Reuters' most courteous gentlemen

For those who knew Graham Crickett at Reuters his funeral was a reunion of colleagues remembering one of Reuters’ most courteous gentlemen of our working experience. Graham had worked with me on expatriate policy and management for much of my time in the Staff Department. His contribution to that department was nicely covered by John Freeman's tribute. Other tributes from life long friends and team players revealed aspects of Graham's life that he kept hidden in Fleet Street.

We learnt that he had played cricket for the under 18s for England and had had success in England's basketball sport, as well as being an expert photographer. A common thread was his technophobia and his friends joked they were a 24-hour-a-day help line. His grandchildren contributed a beautifully read poem to the service at Kemnal Park Crematorium.

His retirement was all too short and my thoughts and prayers are for his family and friends. ■
