Jim Jelter provided market-moving scoops time after time

What a shame to lose Jim so young. I hadn't seen him for 20 years but we kept in touch. It doesn't surprise me that his death was the first I heard of his illness. It's not the sort of thing he would have spread around. I recruited Jim into Reuters in Oslo in 1985, where he lived to be with Toril. With deep knowledge of Norway and the energy sector, Jim provided market-moving scoops time after time. He was a great friend in those times, selflessly supporting an inexperienced correspondent. He deserved all the success he had in his career. ■
