Reuters cuts
Friday 4 October 2013
For those of us who struggled (as far back as 1995) to get Reuters to recognize how well suited we were for the emerging digital era, there is bitter irony here [Reuters cuts around 5% across editorial]. Being a midwesterner, I can use the shut-the-barn-door-after-the-animals-have-bolted phrase. Somehow, Reuters trying to take the lead in digital publishing now sounds like GE suddenly trying to “get into this whole personal computer thing”. With all of TR’s assets how can they miss (where have I heard that line before?!?) But how to succeed? Good luck to the Baron’s descendants in trying to figure that out and remember that you have some good DNA to work with.
