Reuters cuts

There’s an untold story at today’s Reuters and it is the talent drain [Reuters cuts around 5% across editorial]. A lot of mid-to-senior level journalists are leaving voluntarily. I’m one of them. Until the end of September I was oil markets columnist in New York. Other recent departures include three Washington reporters including Kim Dixon, Catherine Bremer in Paris, Marie-Louise Gurmuchian (notable scoops during Libyan civil war) and Andy Hall, global editor of Point Carbon. All of these resignations within the last month or so. People are finding greener pastures or are simply sick of the budget cuts and low morale. ■
