Sylvia Macdowall remembered everything

Sylvia Macdowall was a wonderful person and a friend. We met after each Baron’s Bash over a decade (except for the last two years). Usually we had lunch in Chelsea and then went to an art exhibit. She knew many of the curators, had volunteered in galleries and was an intelligent guide. She also used to walk at a pace that was phenomenal and left me behind quite often. Her conversation about the UK, Reuters and mutual friends was a highlight of our visits… and of course anecdotes about “Charles” that we knew as “Ian” and often visits from daughter Hannah. She remembered everything. I will miss her very much. Please relay my condolences to her family. ■
