The other shoe has dropped
Thursday 7 November 2013
How infuriating, self-serving and hypocritical to hear David Girardin, corporate affairs manager and spokesman for Thomson Reuters, responding to questions by The Baron with the imperious retort worthy of an infantile sand box: “We have not provided any additional detail, and I decline to comment on any of the additional issues raised below.” [The other shoe has dropped].
But then this hypocritical hallmark of the new usurpers of the Reuters throne is not exclusive to them only. The ancien régime was not notable, either, for the free flow of internal news despite the news agency’s commitment to seek such free flow everywhere else. Under both régimes obfuscation, disingenuousness and a cowardly refusal to speak truthfully and frankly have been and continue to be management’s order of the day.
Girardin is doubly misbegotten in his title as spokesman - he neither speaks nor mans up to telling it as it is. ■
