Vale Dougie

So sad to hear of Douglas Learmond’s passing, he was a true gentle man of the newsroom. Whilst in International Marketing in the early 90s, I worked closely with Dougie on all things commodity news related. Despite being from the dark side, I was always welcomed and he was always keen to assist. Meetings invariably involved tea and bikkies from the trolley accompanied with an intense conversation about sugar prices, goings on at the LME or the score in the test match. He leaves a massive hole and will be fondly remembered by many. ■
