Editor of The Baron names Editorial Advisory Board

A panel of former Reuters executives has been assembled to advise the editor of The Baron on content, direction and development. Barry May, founding editor of this website, today announced the formation of an international Editorial Advisory Board.

“The Baron will soon be five years old. Creating it, developing it and maintaining it has been a solitary task,” May said. “I am honoured that some of the many colleagues who share a record of distinguished service with Reuters have agreed to offer me their advice. Their experience, both during their long careers with Reuters and afterwards, makes their contribution especially valuable.”

The Board is composed of the following members:

  • Steve Clarke - executive producer, Communicado Television; formerly executive producer, Reuters Insider
  • Marcus Ferrar - author and strategic communication consultant; formerly correspondent and communications director, Reuters group marketing
  • Nelson Graves - director of Student Recruitment and Admissions, Johns Hopkins SAIS Bologna Center; formerly Reuters editor, Japan and editor, Italy and Greece
  • Paul Holmes - partner, RLM Finsbury; formerly Reuters global editor, political and general news
  • Michael Nelson - author; formerly Reuters general manager
  • Michael Reilly - writing and media training consultant; formerly Reuters senior vice president, external relations
  • David Schlesinger - founder and managing director, Tripod Advisors; formerly chairman, Thomson Reuters China, and Reuters editor-in-chief
  • Stephen Somerville - chairman, The Reuter Society; formerly director, Reuters Foundation
  • Tom Thomson - group managing editor, Herald Times Group; formerly managing editor, Reuters
  • David Ure - trustee of several charities; formerly strategy advisor to the Reuters board.
