Reuters appoints gaming correspondent in Asia

Reuters has appointed a gaming correspondent to "drive casino coverage in Asia". Farah Master, pictured, takes on the new role of Asia gaming correspondent based in Hong Kong.

Anne Marie Roantree, chief correspondent, Hong Kong, told staff on Wednesday: “Most of you will already be familiar with Farah’s great work leading our coverage of the gaming industry in Macau and working with colleagues across Asia on stories in the fast-growing sector. In her broadened role, Farah will drive casino coverage in Asia, producing everything from spot stories to special reports and continuing to work with colleagues to break news and uncover new trends.”

Master joined Reuters in London in 2008 as a graduate trainee and worked in the Shanghai bureau before moving to Hong Kong.

The former Portuguese colony of Macau, one of the world’s largest gambling hubs, is the only place in China where nationals are legally allowed to gamble in casinos. ■
