Premium domain TR.com now belongs to Thomson Reuters

Thomson Reuters has acquired premium two-letter Internet address TR.com.

Dutch information services company Wolters Kluwer US had owned the domain name since August 2005 and was using it for Telecommunications Reports under the business name CCH Incorporated.

Transfer of the domain name took place yesterday, according to Internet records. Thomson Reuters is redirecting the domain name to its corporate homepage.

Two-letter domain names are prized corporate assets. Many are owned by large corporations. For example, Coca-Cola owns KO.com and Procter & Gamble owns PG.com. Facebook uses FB.com as a redirect and e-mail and was reported to have paid $8.5 million for it.

The price paid for TR.com was not disclosed. PX.com recently sold for more than $1 million. ■
