EU regulators to rule on Blackstone deal by 20 July

EU antitrust regulators will decide by 20 July whether to clear Blackstone''s $20 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Thomson Reuters' financial and risk business, a filing on the EU competition watchdog's website showed on Monday.

The US private equity firm sought approval from the European Commission on Friday, according to the filing.

The Commission can either clear the deal with or without concessions or it can open a full-scale investigation of about four months if it has serious concerns.

The proposed transaction was announced on 30 January. ■
