Obituary: Pencho Shishmanov

Pencho Shishmanov (photo), 64, former logistics executive who helped to establish Reuters premises in the Balkans, died of cancer on 27 November 2021.

In the early 1990s Shishmanov oversaw civil construction works in newly opened Reuters premises in Sofia, Skopje and Tirana. Upon commissioning he assumed the logistics executive position until 2002. ■

Paul Julius Reuter started his first news and stock price information service between Brussels and Aachen, Germany on 28 April 1850. He used 45 trained carrier pigeons provided by an Aachen brewer, baker and pigeon breeder.
