Jenny Scott heads Bank of England's communications

Jenny Scott, former Reuters journalist, with Mark Carney, governor of the Bank of England (photo). She was recently appointed the central bank’s executive director, communications.

Prior to that she was adviser to the governor for a year following a two year absence to look after her two young children. Scott was previously the bank’s communications executive director from July 2008 to April 2011. 

She first joined the bank as an economist in 1992 on graduating from Cambridge with a degree in economics. She left to become a graduate trainee journalist in the 1994 intake at Reuters where she later worked in Amsterdam as a general news correspondent. Back in London covering international bond markets, the UK economy and writing a book, The Living Economy, she found herself "suffering from a severe case of the seven year itch".

In 2000 she joined the BBC as economics correspondent and went on to present The Daily Politics television programme. ■
