Stella Dawson leaves Reuters 'for a new adventure'

Stella Dawson (photo), a Reuters reporter and editor for three decades, is leaving the organisation “while I am still having fun and have some energy left over for a new adventure”.

Dawson joined Reuters in 1987 after four years with the Associated Press. From 1989 to 1996 she was an economics correspondent in Washington and then spent six years in New York as a news editor for Reuters Financial Television. Nearly five years as a correspondent in Frankfurt followed before Dawson moved to London to be a global editor for economics and financial markets stories. She returned to New York in 2010 to be a news editor.

She has been in Washington since September 2011, and for the past three years has overseen coverage of governance and anti-corruption efforts for the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

In an e-mail to “a fantastic group of colleagues the world over,” Dawson said she would miss the camaraderie. But I want to leave while I am still having fun and have some energy left over for a new adventure.” She did not say what that would be. ■
