The beer's on Waters

Kim Waters (photo) is offering to buy a beer for any Reuters colleague at the Abergavenny Food Festival, where he is chief executive, this coming weekend - 18 and 19 September.

But that's not his day job. Waters, who a year ago ended a 28-year Reuters career as global business director, is co-founder of SteynWaters, an adventure travel and holiday business that puts together packages for people with a passion for the outdoors.

Waters lived in London, Hong Kong, New Delhi, Stockholm, Oslo, Istanbul, Nairobi and Amsterdam during his time with Reuters. Now he has returned to his native Wales and parlayed his love of travel, the outdoors and fly-fishing into a second career.

"Originally from an engineering 'communications' background, I was lucky to hitch a wonderful ride with a wonderful company, Reuters Ltd," he says. "I have lived or worked in over 60 countries in one of the most dynamic industries of the 20th/21st centuries. Would not swap a moment. Along this journey I developed many attributes. Now it’s on to some new passions (adventure travel and the world of food and wine) that I hope bring just as many joys." ■
