Graham Crickett: a highly professional staff manager

I had the good fortune to benefit, in two phases of my Reuters career, from the sterling qualities of Graham Crickett.

At an individual level, I appreciated his reassuring handling of my own overseas assignments. He was adept at putting together, and explaining, a suitably customised “package” for different foreign parts. There were no loose ends to worry about.

At a corporate level, he smoothed the way when management embarked on one of its periodic global chessboard manoeuvres, helping us to move the right people in the right way, efficiently and sensitively.

Graham was a highly professional staff manager who cared about people, before they became “human resources”. Reuters owed him a great deal. ■
