It looks like Reuters excellence in sports coverage has now gone

Well, what a sad day (Reuters staff shortages force sports cutbacks on eve of Olympics). Paul Radford was right (Reuters settles Olympics case, names new sports editor). "...some clients might not be happy" is an understatement. Rio is going to be a complex and fascinating story, with Zika, the political issues of the country and the Russia doping scandal to contend with on top of the sport. Sport was always one area where our excellence shone through. It looks like this has now gone. ■
